So I was in the market for a new jet ski and did a lot of research. Looked at Sea-doos, yamahas, hondas, kawasakis - read all that I could. Came to the conclusion I'd go with the Yamaha FX SHO. I used to have a Kawasaki Ultra 150 that was very fast and peppy once I put a new impeller in it (amazing the difference that made btw). However, my yamaha made me realize was power/speed really is in a jet ski. WOW! This thing is fast and jumps off the line. It's an amazing experience. It also handled well with a passenger and was surprisingly comfortable in chop, although you still feel the chop and can't go pedal to the medal. Could I suppose if you were riding alone and standing to absorb the pounce. As far as top speed, I don't even know. It felt like it kept going faster and faster and I had to let go before I felt it was finished! I know that the little speedometers on jet skiis are not really accurate, but mine flashed 92 at one point. Now, again I know that's probably at least 20 mph overstated, but I'll tell you that it felt like I was going that fast and I'm not even kidding. It was blinding. I had my ultra going about 70 before and this felt quite a bit faster than that did. Well, you're just going to have to see for yourself. Haven't ridden any of the latest competition, but don't think I need to at this point.
